Jang & Geo’s Mole Gets CAUGHT Red-handed Attempting to Infiltrate BOL

  • Murkier side of Geo TV Network & Mir Shakeel ur Rehman gets exposed yet again after attempting to infiltrate competitor media network, BOL group.
  • As per a credible source in a Federal Agency, Bol has caught the infiltrator in action along with the trail leading directly to Geo TV Management via “controlled& planted bait”.

The green-eyed monster of envy that Jang and Geo Network harbours for its competitors is no news for anyone in the Pakistani Media Industry. While Jang and Geo Group’s owners Mir Shakeel ur Rehman and Mir Ibrahim have left no stone unturned in trying to sabotage the top name in their hit-list, Bol Media Group – the media network that has been successful in getting the top names like Kamran Khan, Azhar Abbas and Iftikhar Ahmed, Maria Memon, Madiha Naqvi, Mansoor Ali Khan from many others from Geo alone. However, so far Jang and Geo group have not only been unsuccessful but also got exposed for their treacherous attempts.

Blinded bytheir desire to avenge their loss & to get all the crucial intel of their top competitor, this time around Mir Shakeel & Co. went for an even more underhanded tactic by planting a MOLE within BOL. The mole identified as Owais was directly in contact with a Jang and Geo Group official, Mr. Sarmad who told him to get important information about Bol channel’s programming strategies and to execute a security breach attempting intellectual property espionage.

Bol Mole

The plan and the player were all in place for the execution of mass data theft – only with one oversight: trying to attempt a massive security breach within a media house backed by an IT company!” guffawed an LEA officer, “Apparently people at Bol already had a contingency planned for this mishap, so the mole got caught in action like a fish takes a bait! Not only the whole mission went to the gutter but the perpetrators of the entire scheme must be bashing their heads knowing that all the “leaked information” was nothing but a decoy that also serves as a tracing bait from the source to the user –“

On enquiring about what happened to the mole, the officer said, “The guy is in BIG trouble. The guys at NR3C in FIA take such type of data theft very grimly! Just a day behind the bars and the guy spilled out all the info about his benefactors and contact at Jang and Geo. He told us to contact them to help bail him out but so far, they have not responded to any of his calls or messages, which is very predictable behavior from GEO. Pitiful if you ask me- the idiot lost his job, destroyed his career singlehandedly and God knows what awaits him as the case proceeds while the ones who got him into this mess have turned their backs on him.”

Now that the situation has been taken under control, apparently Bol TV officials are keen on keeping the attempted breach undercover to avoid unnecessary attention. Bol network is proceeding with pressing charges against the culprit and his abettors Jang & Geo Group, and hence the case might prove to be the another lighting strike to the lightening rod of our media industry, Jang & Geo Group all thanks to their devious ways.

#BolPakistan vs. #GeoIndia – Choice Is YOURS!

  • Geo Network working hand in hand with Indian Intelligence agency RAW to sabotage the reputation of upcoming BOL Network while putting sovereignty & reputation of Pakistan and its armed forces at stake!

  • Give your opinion by participating in OUR POLL.

While the advent of BOL Network is said to bring the Media Revolution among Pakistani Media, the green-eyed monster stirred amongst other media corporations such as GEO TV Network, which felt extremely threatened by losing its employees as well as its monopoly in Pakistani media to the promising prospects in BOL Network. With rumors of its top-rated news anchors and media personnel jumping the ship and with its ex-Managing Director, GEO News, Azhar Abbas leaving only to join BOL Network a few days later as CEO,BOL NEWS – the top management of GEO seemingly feel lost and enraged at such turn of events.

After much propaganda creation against BOL Network among Pakistani media circles and local news, GEO received a severe backlash for spreading these baseless rumors including strong criticism from journalists, media personnel and public as well as litigation from aggrieved parties.

Although still vengeful, GEO has sought help from its old time Indian allies in Indian intelligence and RAW who pushed their hand puppet media group, Hindustan Times to publish same baseless propaganda regarding BOL Network from India – branding it to be a brainchild of ISI and an underworld don, Dawood Ibrahim. Interestingly the story published in Hindustan times is copy of the story published by GEO/ Jang group 3 months ago when BOL announced its launch.

If the reiteration of the similar rumors raised by Geo in Pakistani circles earlier was not enough to give away its involvement, the addition of few other alleged names such as Aqeel Karim Dhedhi (AKD), who have recently been involved in litigation against Geo and its related parties, gave the dirty game away and proved beyond doubt that the script was provided by GEO.

The media circles in Pakistan are appalled by the kind of connections GEO/ Jang group have with the Indian RAW and the Hindustan times. Publishing an already published story which is under litigation and criticism is not an easy task to manage. It must be a win-win situation for both, RAW and Geo as against this publication RAW must have asked Geo to perform acts detrimental to the sovereignty of Pakistan which would be visible in times to come.

GEO Network’s affinity to Indian intelligence has never been a hidden secret. Similar expressions of bonding were seen between Geo and Indian intelligence during the Mumbai Attacks, where Geo helped in promoting the point of view that Pakistani’s were involved in the attacks when it prepared a package and informed the world that Ajmal Kasab belonged to Pakistan– which proved to be a false claim later – yet provided fodder for Indian Media and Geo alike to build the tension between the two nuclear powers. GEO’s cultural invasion through its channel GEO kahani which is airing Indian and foreign content of 70% as against its allowed limit of 10% is no secret. Its massive  tax and loan defaults are also not a secret and are enough reasons to stop the channels from working as per PEMRA rules. Unfortunately PEMRA is afraid of taking action against this blatant violation due to the known blackmailing skills of GEO and its group.

Geo Network, known for giving a hard time to its employees due to non-payment of salaries as well as outstanding payables to its vendors, has every reason to be threatened by any competitor that will offer not only salary to its employee on time but a complete lifestyle with perks and facilities.

Geo is making alliances with Indian media and intelligence to harm the reputation of BOL Network as well as putting the sanctity of Pakistan’s armed forces on stake– what is your say?

BRITISH GOVERNMENT ADMITS PROVIDING FUNDING TO MIR KHALIL UR RAHMAN FOUNDATION FOR MEDIA CAMPAIGN

  • The extracted document from House of Lords Debates provides evidence of foreign funded media campaign that was aired on GEO TELEVISION
  • MKR Foundation and GEO, both, previously denied running any “Foreign Funded Media Campaign”

Media Ethics and Transparency– these two virtues seem to be rather nonexistent when talking about GEO Network’s programming. Whether it is showing the faces of rape victims on national TV insensitively without protecting their identity and considering their right to privacy or blatantly disregarding PEMRA regulations by showing objectionable content that spills anti-nationalist venom amongst the viewers – GEO Network has left no stone unturned to make money by hook or crook.  When GEO Television Network faced another expose’ of their black deeds by the Media Commission Report and the leak of MKR Foundation’s plea for foreign funding earlier this year, the network strongly denied receiving any sort of foreign funding for the programming prepared and aired by them. Yet in another document extracted from Lords Hansard from British Parliament, The British Government’s Department for International Development has openly admitted to have provided over £950,000 to Mir Khalil Ur Rahman Foundation (the governing NGO of Jang / Geo Group).

In a question asked by Lord Ahmed in the British Parliament’s House of Lords, regarding the amount of money spent by Department for International Development education awareness programme on advertising in Pakistan, DfID admitted to have spent just over £950,000 to date on a media campaign to raise awareness of Pakistan’s education emergency, through print radio and television. In response to another question by Lord Ahmed regarding how much funding they have given to Geo/Jang Group in the present and previous financial years, DfiD responded that it has not provided any direct funding to the GEO/Jang group directly although admitted to have provided the funding to The Mir Khalil ur Rahman Foundation, which runs DfID funded education programme in Pakistan. DfiD further mentioned that MKR Foundation has however purchased television time from GEO at a discounted rate, as part of a transparent process of subcontracting media organizations to deliver this aspect of the programme.

The surfacing of this document has put a question mark on the credibility of Mir Khalil ur Rahman foundation, which has blatantly denied any type of foreign funding received for any sort of media campaign previously. The document also casts a shadow of doubt over the unbiasedness of the Chief Justice of Supreme Court of Pakistan, who reprimanded PEMRA to “behave in a responsible manner” after PEMRA raised allegations of GEO TV’s programming to be funded by foreign sources earlier this year.

Now that all the best kept secrets about hidden sources of revenue of Jang/Geo Group have come out in open (not once but twice!), every eye is on the judiciary with one burning question in all of them.. Will the justice be served to the Guilty or once again, the favoritism and lobbying will win the game for the Sellers of National Integrity?

The True Story behind Managing Director GEO News Azhar Abbas’ Resignation

• “MKR Foundation Scandal for Putting Editorial Endorsement for Sale” among the Reasons for Resignation

• Expresses “desire to build an organisation that not only excels in journalism but also offers better working conditions for journalists

Rumors have become reality. The news of resignation of Managing Director Geo News, Azhar Abbas spread like the fire in the jungle among the media circles of Pakistan on Thursday, 15 August 2013. Among many issues reported by various insider sources, the infamous GeoNewsLeaks Scandal is cited as one of the main reasons for this resignation.

The buzz about Mr. Abbas’ resignation was a hot topic among media personnel, especially Geo employees, which became stronger only after Azhar Abbas was allegedly “on leave flying for vacations” in the first week of July but ended up not catching his scheduled flight. The rumor mill about him turning in his resignation grew stronger in his absence but neither Geo nor Azhar Abbas himself made any announcement.

This falling among the internal higher management caused further unrest among Geo employees when their salaries were not disbursed on time, even before Eid. The grapevine among the media circles was filled with reports of Mr. Abbas joining the upcoming BOL Network after Eid.

After much buildup and speculation, the news of his resignation was confirmed only after Mr. Azhar Abbas circulated this goodbye memo among the fellow Geo employees:

Dear Team Geo,

I write this email with a heavy heart. A heavy heart because I have come to conclusion that there is only so much that I can do for all of you, while working here.

It is only due to you that we realised the dream of making Geo the premier news channel of the country.

Any leader in my position would struggle to count their blessings. It was a rare and distinctive privilege to lead a team with such creativity, professionalism and commitment.

As you extended unflinching support to me, I assure you I was equally committed to your professional excellence and better working conditions. I acknowledge I may not have been able to deliver all I wanted. But, I am sure, this will remain an ongoing process and soon you will work under better terms and conditions.

And now for the most difficult bit: I have decided to leave and pursue other career options.

I have faith in your ability and I am sure GeoNews’s quality and place in the market will remain unaltered. No matter what you do make sure your commitment to excellence remains singular and Geo will continue to fly.

A part of me will always remain here. But I am taking with me the desire to build an organisation that not only excels in journalism but also offers better working conditions for journalists.

I wish Geo and each one of you the best of luck. I will not even try and thank you for all your hard work and support for words fail me.

Love and Regards

Yours

Azhar Abbas

While the departing memo shows no signs of bad blood or bitterness between Geo Network and Azhar Abbas, our sources inform that among many other issues, the much talked-about GEO NEWS LEAKS scandal, pertaining to the Mir Khalil-ur-Rahman Foundation’s plea for funding from U.S government putting its Editorial content for sale, was the main reason for his resignation. Mr. Azhar Abbas was reportedly not happy being associated with a media organization that would put its editorial board on sale, considering this act as annihilation of journalism ethics and morals. With already brought back half-heartedly after much persuasion of Geo’s higher management, the scandal served as a final boarding call for Mr. Azhar Abbas and he decided to go on with his resignation.
